The
objective of this website is to provide information about international
best practices in development planning, infrastructure development, industry
development and institutional development to government officials and others
interested parties in low and middle-income countries. The website describes
both theories and practices. Not all theories may be practical, but that
information alone is usually already usefull. The provided information is relevant to officials of the national, provincial and other governments but also to other governmental organisations, e.g. parastatals. The webpage about Development Planning discusses the role of Governments. It also describes generic planning practices and their application in low and middle-income countries. The webpages about infrastructure development and industry development present views about the roles of infrastructure and industrialisation to address social and economic development goals. The pages provide relevant background information about the role of the government with regard to public service delivery and economic growth. These pages also provide various pro-poor and sustainable-oriented tools and methods concerning infrastructure and industry development. The Institutional
Development webpage provides information about evaluating the appropriateness
of best practices. Furthermore it provides tools and approaches to create
conducive environments for their application. |
